Hi, I’m James

I’m a licensed speech-language pathologist with a background in psychology. As an ambivert who leans shy at times, I know how it feels to be stuck in your head. I believe self-expression is a human right, and you deserve to feel free and unstifled. I’ve studied improv and mindfulness, which helps you grow with curiosity, empathy, and a healthy dose of humor. I’ve published self-development articls for sites like Highexistence and Shine, and guest-lectured on speech research at UCLA and Chapman University. In other words, I combine the most useful models across fields to help you with the mental, emotional, and physical aspects of communication — so you can connect with clarity and confidence!

Why Smooth speaking?

I won the debate!

“Ok, so I had my debate today and a lot of emotions. My heart wasn’t pounding as it normally would, like I kept a steady heart rate. And my thoughts weren’t negative, like I felt prepared. I started off smoothly in my intro but then when I was trying to say the word ‘Clark’…OMGGG I ended up doing the fist-covering with my LEFT HANDđŸ˜‚đŸ˜Likee whattt. I ended up changing hands, but I completely put that away, like the second I noticed, I took my hand away so fast that I hit my nails on my desk. And for the rest of the speech, I kept my hands intertwined. I didn’t have any hand tapping and I kept eye contact with my computer.

Since this was a spar debate I had to think about things from the top of my head and ask questions and I think I did really good. I feel like keeping my head up, literally,  which allowed me not to feel bad about speaking. Like words with ‘L’ was really giving me a lot of trouble, but I persisted and WON the debate.

I still smile when I catch myself stutter and being timed doesn’t help, but when I knew what I wanted to say by having notes I was able to ask questions while making eye contact and I sounded pretty f**ken good, especially during the question period. So, yeah. Thanks, James!!”

Not afraid to say I stutter.

I just wanted to say thank you for everything you did to improve my speech over the time we had counseling. Thanks James, it means a lot.
